Vanta is building the intelligence layer that makes organizational data actionable across the company. This role owns the design and implementation of a cross-source interpretive layer that reads across Vanta's sources of truth—making them queryable, reasoned-over, and genuinely illuminating for EPD (Engineering, Product, Design), GTM, and broader organizational leadership.
The EPD Systems team is constructing three interlocking layers: sources of truth at the foundation, an operating system that makes delivery legible, and the intelligence layer (this role). You will ship working things yourself—prototypes, internal tools, agent workflows—using AI as a core capability, not as a reporting subject.
Key responsibilities include: building the intelligence layer that serves EPD leadership, GTM, and cross-functional teams; scoping ambiguous problems yourself and owning the sequence of what gets built and when; shipping working prototypes and tools without waiting for handoff; understanding organizational needs by engaging directly with GTM, G&A, and EPD teams; and catching AI-specific quality problems (reliability, cost, latency, drift, accuracy) before they cause damage.
Success requires comfort with ambiguity and unpolished work; recent, shipped experience with LLM tooling where your approach has evolved in the last six months; ability to drive behavior change across organizations you don't control through what you build and how you communicate; deep understanding of AI quality metrics and real experience catching and resolving quality issues post-launch; and root-cause thinking with attention to second- and third-order effects. No CS degree or pedigree required—real, recent, shipped work and learning velocity are what matter. You should be open to using AI to amplify your own capabilities and demonstrate sound judgment in applying AI responsibly.
