Clutch is Canada's largest online used car retailer, delivering a seamless car buying and selling experience powered by ML-driven pricing and a digital-first platform. The company was founded in 2017, is headquartered in Toronto, and has been recognized by Globe & Mail (Top Growing Companies, three years running), Deloitte Technology Fast 50™, and Fast 500™. It is backed by leading investors including Canaan, BrandProject, Real Ventures, D1 Capital, and Upper90.
The Product & Design team is Clutch's creative engine, solving complex problems around customer experience, internal operations tools, growth experiments, systems integration, and the logistics of buying, selling, and moving cars.
Clutch has fundamentally changed how it builds products through Ignition, an internal platform for agentic engineering. This enables individual builders to own projects end-to-end—from problem discovery through design, development, testing, and iteration—work that traditionally required large teams over months. Builders now ship in days.
In this Senior Product Builder role, you will own important product problems end-to-end. Your responsibilities include:
• Understand business and user problems deeply, then build and ship solutions
• Immerse yourself in Clutch's operations, customers, systems, processes, and data
• Challenge requests and assumptions to ensure you're solving the right problem
• Shape product solutions and design elegant, intuitive experiences
• Use AI and agentic development tools to build across front end and back end
• Work with APIs, business logic, data, and existing Clutch systems
• Put working products in front of stakeholders and users early, rather than relying on specs or mockups alone
• Test against realistic scenarios and data to uncover edge cases before launch
• Ship quickly, learn from real usage, and continuously improve
• Run experiments and measure whether your work solves the problem
• Collaborate with operators, designers, engineers, marketers, and specialists when their expertise improves outcomes
• Help evolve Clutch's product-development practices as tools and capabilities evolve
You will thrive in this role if you are curious about the business logic underneath your work, have strong product judgment about what to build and what not to build, care deeply about product taste and elegance, and are excited to move quickly from idea to working software. You should be comfortable working outside traditional discipline boundaries and learning unfamiliar technical or business domains quickly.
You will NOT enjoy this role if you prefer strict functional boundaries, want to hand off work to other functions, prefer producing specs and presentations over working software, are uncomfortable with code, need firm processes, require problems to be fully defined upfront, dislike scrappy work, or optimize primarily for velocity over impact.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum:
• 4+ years of experience building digital products in product design, product management, software engineering, or a similarly hands-on product role
• Strong product sense—think about product and business holistically, not as isolated features or screens
• Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous problems and turn them into thoughtful, practical solutions
• Strong UX instincts and high bar for intuitive, enjoyable products
• Curiosity about users and willingness to spend time understanding how they work
• Comfort using AI-assisted or agentic tools to build software, or strong desire to become highly proficient
• Willingness to work outside traditional discipline boundaries
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technical or business domains quickly
• Bias toward shipping, testing, learning, and iterating
Preferred:
• Experience at a startup as early employee or founder
• Experience owning products from problem discovery through launch and iteration
• Experience working directly with engineers or contributing to production code
• Experience building with modern AI coding or agentic development tools
• Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, analytics, or product-led growth
• Experience building internal tools or software for operationally complex businesses
• Comfort working with APIs, data, and unfamiliar systems
• Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and prioritize by business impact
• Evidence of self-taught skills outside formal discipline
