Monte Carlo is an AI and data observability platform that helps enterprises monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production AI systems. As the company scales its customer base of large US enterprises deploying agents into production, they're seeking a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer to own end-to-end technical sales cycles.
In this role, you will run discovery, solution design, demos, and proofs of value (POVs) for strategic enterprise opportunities. You'll partner closely with Account Executives on commercial strategy and drive technical wins independently. Your focus will be helping customers understand how to observe, trust, and improve agent systems—from data pipelines feeding agents, to context retrieval, decision-making, and outputs.
Key responsibilities include designing POVs with agreed success criteria, managing evaluations to remove technical objections, and building internal champions who will advocate for Monte Carlo across budget cycles and executive reviews. You'll conduct technical briefings, workshops, and architecture reviews to position the platform as critical infrastructure.
You'll need hands-on experience with enterprise AI and agent deployments, understanding the architecture, failure modes, and operational realities of getting agents from demo to production. Fluency in AI observability concepts—traces, spans, evaluations, instrumentation—is essential. OpenTelemetry, Databricks Genie, and Snowflake Cortex experience is highly valued.
You should have 5+ years in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or strategic technical account management within B2B AI-first companies and SaaS organizations, with meaningful enterprise account experience. You're equally comfortable whiteboarding agent architectures and discussing ROI with VPs of Data & AI. You're self-directed, accountable, and a strong communicator across all seniority levels.
Success is measured by technical win rate on POVs, proper scoping and technical execution against pipeline, and revenue growth from closed commitments and consumption expansion.
