The Platform Tribe builds and operates the infrastructure that Preply engineers develop on and that millions of learners and tutors rely on daily. The platform handles over 20 billion requests per month, combining software engineering, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure to maintain reliability at scale while improving developer velocity.
As a Senior Platform Software Engineer on the Developer Platform team, you will own and evolve the CI/CD systems, testing capabilities, and developer tooling that enable Preply's engineering teams to ship quickly and safely. Your responsibilities include:
- Building and improving CI/CD systems, testing frameworks, and paved paths that let engineers deploy with confidence
- Owning the developer journey from code writing through testing and deployment
- Creating internal platforms, services, and developer tooling that solve friction points at scale
- Providing infrastructure and paved paths for both human engineers and AI agents to build, test, and ship autonomously
- Leveraging AI and agentic workflows to rethink the software development lifecycle, with appropriate quality gates and safety nets
- Operating what you build: participating in support and incident rotation, using data and feedback to continuously improve the platform
- Partnering with engineering teams as platform users, driving adoption and aligning stakeholders across squads
You'll work in small teams with significant ownership over architecture and technical decisions. The role offers exposure to diverse technical challenges across the stack, with opportunities to contribute to Preply's Engineering Blog and learn from the company's public Tech Radar and YouTube channel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- ~8 years of experience designing and building complex backend software systems
- Strong hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD systems and pipelines at scale, including reliability, performance, and cost trade-offs
- Productive in Python (used for platform services, tooling, and automation); does not need to be Python-first but must be capable
- Forefront user of Agentic AI with hands-on experience; able to influence architecture, business logic, and security decisions; can set up quality gates and safety nets for AI-enhanced workflows
- Experience building developer platforms, internal developer tooling, or developer productivity/experience solutions
- Experience designing platforms and tooling for engineers as internal users, with strong understanding of developer needs and workflows
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments and distributed systems
- Business-oriented and data-driven approach
- Strong communication skills; minimum C1 English level
