The Platform Tribe owns the internal developer platform that Preply engineers build and deploy on. As a Senior Platform Software Engineer on the Developer Platform team, you will focus on CI/CD systems, developer experience, internal tooling, and AI-native development workflows.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and improve CI/CD systems, testing capabilities, and paved paths enabling engineers to ship quickly and safely
- Own and evolve the developer journey from code writing through testing and deployment
- Build internal platforms, services, and developer tooling to reduce friction and enable autonomous work
- Provide infrastructure and paved paths for engineers and coding agents to build, test, and ship independently
- Use AI and agentic workflows to rethink the software development lifecycle, with appropriate quality gates and safety nets
- Operate what you build: participate in support and incident rotation; use data and feedback to continuously improve the platform
- Partner with engineering teams as platform users, driving adoption and aligning stakeholders across squads
You'll work in small teams with significant ownership over architecture and technical decisions. The role involves diverse technical challenges across the stack, with opportunities to contribute to Preply's Engineering Blog and learn from their Tech Radar and YouTube channel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- ~8 years of experience designing and building complex backend software systems
- Strong hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD systems and pipelines at scale, including reliability, performance, and cost trade-offs
- Proficiency in Python for building platform services, developer tooling, and automation (not required to be Python-first, but must be productive)
- AI expertise: hands-on experience with Agentic AI; ability to influence architecture, business logic, and security decisions; experience setting up quality gates and safety nets for AI-enhanced workflows
- Experience building developer platforms, internal developer tooling, developer productivity, or developer experience solutions
- Experience designing platforms and tooling for engineers as internal users, with strong understanding of developer needs and workflows
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments and distributed systems
- Business orientation and data-driven approach
- Strong communication skills; minimum C1 English level
