Camber builds software to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare by streamlining manual work so clinicians can focus on patient care. The company has raised $50M from top-tier investors including a16z, Craft Ventures, and Y Combinator. You'll join as the third member of the Platform team, which operates across the full stack to develop resources and tooling that enable engineers to efficiently develop and run services in a secure, reliable, and scalable manner. The team takes a product mindset toward platform work, making it easy to do the right things and hard to do the wrong things. This increasingly includes AI infrastructure: you'll build tooling that lets engineers develop with LLMs productively and safely, plus the infrastructure behind AI-powered product features. Key responsibilities include ensuring reliability of core services (PostgreSQL on RDS, ECS services, CI/CD build systems, OpenTelemetry observability on Datadog), driving security initiatives that address risk with minimal friction, creating tools and best practices that empower engineers, influencing team standards for non-functional requirements, collaborating cross-functionally to understand requirements, and building the platform for AI development. You bring 6+ years of platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience. You have strong knowledge of AWS cloud platforms and open-source tools (Terraform, Kafka, Temporal, Postgres, OTel). You react calmly and quickly to urgent escalations, model best practices in incident follow-up, and practice blameless post-mortems with high accountability. You know when to build an MVP versus when more rigor is needed, and you communicate the "why" behind decisions cross-functionally. You understand organizational pain points and build features that meet real needs. Nice-to-have skills include security/compliance experience in healthcare or regulated spaces (HIPAA/SOC2/PCI), hands-on experience with Datadog, Temporal, Kafka, Databricks, or Terraform, monorepo CI/CD systems at scale, experience growing Series B startups (~30 engineers), and production LLM tooling or infrastructure experience. Camber is based in NYC and prioritizes in-person and hybrid candidates. The role offers hybrid flexibility with 3–5 days/week in office and remote-friendly Fridays. Comprehensive benefits include medical/dental/vision, mental health support with therapy reimbursement, 12 weeks paid parental leave, 401K/HSA/FSA, commuter benefits, $100/month fitness stipend, and flexible PTO.
