The Senior People Operations Specialist is a key member of Volta's People Operations team, reporting to the Head of People Operations. This hands-on role delivers seamless, compliant, and high-quality employee experience across the entire employee lifecycle for a rapidly growing international workforce.
Key responsibilities include: executing end-to-end employee lifecycle operations across all jurisdictions (offers, contracts, onboarding, employee changes, leave, probation, promotions, offboarding); preparing high-quality employment documentation using approved templates; coordinating global immigration and right-to-work processes including UK Sponsor License obligations; serving as first point of contact for employees and managers on People Operations policies; maintaining knowledge of employment legislation across operating jurisdictions; managing Employer of Record (EOR) and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) arrangements; ensuring UK GDPR and international privacy compliance; administering Deel HRIS with accurate employee records and compensation data; managing data flows between Deel, Ashby, Carta, payroll systems and other People platforms; producing accurate People reporting on headcount, attrition, diversity, absence and turnover; and identifying opportunities to simplify, standardize and automate processes.
Required experience includes substantial people operations or HR operations background with scaling organization experience where processes were built from scratch; multi-jurisdictional lifecycle operations and employment documentation experience spanning Europe and North America; strong knowledge of people operations best practice including lifecycle design, documentation standards, service levels, data hygiene and controls; working knowledge of UK employment law and right-to-work requirements; understanding of data protection under UK GDPR; excellent attention to detail and spreadsheet/data skills; discretion with confidential information; and comfort with ambiguity and volume with independent prioritization.
