Lightspeed Commerce is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across the APAC region, based in Manila with a permanent work-from-home setup. This role is responsible for processing and managing payroll across Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities include: processing payroll across three countries using different systems (in-house for Australia, iPayroll for New Zealand, and external provider coordination for Philippines); performing payroll validations, reconciliations, and reporting; investigating discrepancies and partnering with Finance on month-end outcomes; providing responsive support to employees and stakeholders on payroll queries; maintaining payroll data integrity across payroll, HRIS, and finance systems; identifying process improvements and automation opportunities; and collaborating with Payroll, People & Culture, Finance, and external providers.
Required qualifications: prior payroll or payroll accounting experience with hands-on processing responsibilities; proven experience processing New Zealand payroll (Australian payroll experience highly valued); exposure to multi-country APAC payroll operations; strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax requirements, leave entitlements, and employment regulations; experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms (iPayroll, Xero, Workday preferred); advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting; experience preparing payroll journals and variance analysis; demonstrated ability to leverage AI and productivity tools (Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Glean) while maintaining data privacy; strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
