Phantom is a modern money app serving 20M+ users globally, combining crypto-powered finance with mainstream consumer finance. The company is scaling from 160+ to 200 employees by year-end and seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to own all payroll and benefits operations. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across all employment types and entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. You'll maintain high data integrity between HR, payroll, and accounting systems through thoughtful process design and cross-functional collaboration with Finance, People, and Legal teams. Key responsibilities include managing payroll and benefits reconciliations, supporting monthly and quarterly close processes, and serving as the internal subject matter expert for payroll compliance, benefit deductions, and year-end filings. You will design and implement internal controls for payroll and benefits operations, building scalable and automated processes that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and audit preparedness. You'll document workflows, maintain clear procedures supporting audits, and collaborate across teams to streamline reporting and compliance across systems. Success means payroll, benefits, and equity processes run accurately and on time with full audit traceability. Compensation data flows cleanly between People, Finance, and Legal systems, and stock-based compensation and benefits are booked and reconciled accurately each period. The infrastructure you build will scale seamlessly with continued growth. You bring 6–8+ years of experience owning the end-to-end payroll lifecycle in high-growth or multi-entity environments, with deep knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. You have proven ability to establish internal controls and maintain audit-ready documentation. Hands-on experience with modern payroll/HRIS platforms (Rippling, Deel) and 401(k) providers (Fidelity, Empower) is essential; familiarity with equity systems like Carta is a plus. Experience with integrated payroll, HRIS, and ERP systems (NetSuite) is valued. You demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion handling confidential data, with strong collaborative skills across Finance, People, and Legal.
