Flexport is seeking a Senior Ocean Planning Associate based in Bangkok to own space planning, carrier booking, and allocation management for the company's Thailand export gateway, focusing on Transpacific Eastbound (TPEB) trade lanes. This role sits at the center of coordination between internal teams, carrier partners, and clients to ensure containers sail as planned.
Key responsibilities include managing the full shipment planning and booking cycle—from forecasting and allocation control to service order release. You'll coordinate daily with Account Management, Procurement, Allocation & Yield, and carrier offices to secure capacity and protect critical shipments. You'll maintain accurate space visibility across Flexport systems (FFA, Fulfillment Management Tool) and sailing schedules, while driving optimal space utilization and ensuring compliance with carrier allocation rules and performance metrics.
You'll serve as the first point of escalation for booking exceptions, space shortfalls, and service disruptions. Leveraging relationships with carrier local offices, you'll resolve issues quickly—SO pushes, equipment release, rollover prevention. You'll monitor carrier KPIs (on-time performance, equipment availability, service quality) and flag trends to Procurement and Operations Excellence teams.
The role also involves identifying workflow gaps and proposing process enhancements to improve speed and accuracy, sharing market intelligence and seasonal trends across internal teams to support trade-lane strategy, and partnering with Product and Engineering to enhance planning tools and data automation.
This position is ideal for someone with strong relationships with carrier offices or hands-on experience in carrier customer service. You'll combine operational excellence, market understanding, and a data-driven mindset to help scale Flexport's ocean freight network efficiently.
