Pacific Fusion, founded in 2023 and backed by over $900M in funding, is developing pulser-driven inertial fusion systems to achieve net facility gain and deliver abundant, affordable, clean energy. The company is seeking Senior Mechanical Design Specialists to support the development of advanced mechanical systems for next-generation fusion energy technology.
In this role, you will independently analyze complex design problems and develop robust mechanical design solutions that satisfy all requirements and constraints. You'll translate design solutions into detailed layouts and assemblies using Creo Parametric, capturing design intent through model-based definition practices. You'll develop supporting documentation including analysis, schedules, cost estimates, and procedures, while maintaining accurate design documentation and configuration control within Windchill or equivalent PLM/ELM systems.
Key responsibilities include estimating schedules and costs to determine effective approaches for design, materials selection, and fabrication; preparing and presenting technical material for design reviews; and participating in formal design reviews and engineering change processes. You'll author, review, and approve engineering reports and technical documentation, and present designs and analyses to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
Depending on experience and qualifications, you may also provide technical leadership, including planning and leading multiple complex projects, mentoring fellow designers, and contributing to workforce planning and task prioritization.
You bring an Associate's degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Design Technology, or related technical field (or equivalent experience), with significant applied experience in Creo Parametric and Windchill. You have advanced knowledge of CAD/PLM systems, strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, and demonstrated ability to analyze complex design requirements and develop original engineering solutions. Experience with hardware design, fabrication, assembly techniques, material selection, testing, and manufacturing methods is essential. You're detail-oriented, manage multiple tasks independently, and communicate technical information clearly both in writing and verbally.
