VEIR is a superconductor power delivery systems manufacturer founded in 2019, headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts. The company designs and manufactures next-generation superconducting technology for AI data centers and extreme energy applications, delivering ~10× higher power density than conventional alternatives. You will own the end-to-end manufacturing strategy for the termination assembly, a critical high-power component in VEIR's superconducting power delivery systems. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role bridging design engineering, supplier development, and quality systems. Key responsibilities include: • Identify, evaluate, and onboard a contract manufacturing (CM) partner capable of producing the termination assembly at required cost, quality, and volume targets. • Partner with the CM and internal engineering to optimize the termination assembly design for manufacturability, cost, and lead time (DFM/DFA). • Define and implement a comprehensive quality strategy, including incoming material inspection/qualification, finished-assembly test and qualification plans, and risk mitigation before product shipment. • Establish in-process inspection protocols at the CM: define inspection points, sampling plans, measurement/gauging methods, first-article inspection (FAI) requirements, and audit CM adherence. • Develop test protocols for high-power termination assemblies (dielectric/hi-pot testing, torque/connection integrity, thermal cycling, contact resistance) to validate performance and safety. • Lead pilot builds at the CM, drive root-cause resolution of build and process issues, and feed learnings back into design and work instructions. • Build out the production process plan (routers, work instructions, fixturing/tooling strategy) in collaboration with the CM. • Drive continuous improvement across pilot and early production builds toward lowest sustainable cost, shortest lead time, and highest quality steady-state production. • Manage the ongoing CM relationship: capability assessment, quoting/negotiation support, capacity planning, and issue escalation/resolution. • Interface with supply chain to qualify critical component and raw material suppliers. • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation: BOMs, process flow diagrams, inspection plans, and non-conformance/CAPA processes. • Own the non-conformance loop: run Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure with effectiveness verification. You should have a strong track record in contract manufacturing for high-power electrical or electromechanical assemblies, with expertise in supplier development, design for manufacturability, quality systems, and production scaling.
