Zoox is seeking a Team Lead for Readiness & Response to oversee fleet operations in Phoenix. You will manage a hybrid team of FTE Shift Leads and contingent workers, driving operational strategy across vehicle preparation (Mission Readiness) and incident response (Fleet Response). Your responsibilities include direct people leadership with mentoring and performance management, serving as the primary escalation point for critical field incidents, managing third-party vendors (vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, facilities), and optimizing depot workflows to reduce vehicle downtime. You'll synthesize operational data and KPIs to provide leadership with fleet health insights, ensure OSHA compliance and safety protocols within the workshop, and maintain accurate vehicle documentation and status reporting. The role requires collaborating with Fleet Ops leaders to optimize fleet utilization while meeting market demands and broader organizational uptime goals. You'll identify process bottlenecks and work cross-functionally to implement innovations using methodologies like Lean Six Sigma. Required qualifications include 8+ years in operations-based environments, demonstrated experience managing people leaders (Shift Leads/Supervisors), extensive contingent workforce management, vendor/partner management with SLA accountability, critical thinking under pressure, technical aptitude for complex systems (autonomous vehicle hardware/software), process improvement mindset, and commitment to safety excellence with a clean driving record. Bonus qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business management/operations/finance, autonomous vehicle or safety-critical industry experience, fast-paced service environment background, Lean Six Sigma certification, and fleet management software familiarity.
