Helion is a fusion power company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Everett, WA, the company has raised $1.5B from top-tier investors including Sam Altman, SoftBank, and Thrive Capital. Their prototype Polaris has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius, and they are advancing toward their first commercial plant, Orion.
As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize production processes for in-house capacitors—a critical component for Helion's power plant commissioning. This role reports to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and sits at the intersection of Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, and Test Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement rate-based assembly processes for capacitor production
- Own interdisciplinary projects to increase throughput and rate (floor layout, tooling, build cells, large-scale equipment)
- Develop business processes including non-conformance management, process control, safety, and asset maintenance to support production scale-up
- Analyze production data (labor hours, cycle times, fallout) to identify bottlenecks and deploy solutions via design changes, process improvements, equipment, or automation
- Identify high-ROI manufacturing capabilities and partner with Production, Finance, Operations, and Facilities teams
- Collaborate on future process development while supporting current production line optimization
You will need 8+ years of technical experience in production systems development and improvement, hands-on manufacturing experience in rate-based environments, strong cross-functional communication and influence skills, and demonstrated cradle-to-grave ownership of complex engineering or production scopes.
