Dutchie is a leading cannabis technology platform powering dispensary operations across 40+ markets in the US and Canada. Founded in 2017 and backed by $600M+ in funding from top-tier investors including D1 Capital, Tiger Global, and Dragoneer, Dutchie is seeking a Senior Manager of Payments Risk to own the systems, models, and cross-functional programs that minimize loss, returns, and fraud while maintaining frictionless experiences for legitimate users.
This is a hands-on, player-coach role combining individual contributor depth with team leadership. You will own end-to-end management of Dutchie's risk platform, including Sift and Plaid Signal integration—tuning rules, models, thresholds, and feedback loops to continuously improve fraud detection. You'll design and implement identity and fraud controls that block bad actors while minimizing friction for good users, and you'll own the metrics and reporting for loss, returns, and fraud reduction outcomes.
Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional risk initiatives with ACH Operations, partnering directly with Product and Engineering teams to ship risk controls, and diving deep into data to inform strategy. You'll manage a small analyst team while remaining hands-on with Python, SQL, and direct data warehouse analysis. This role requires genuine curiosity, bias for detail, and practical experience with modern AI tools and LLMs to accelerate investigation and analysis.
You bring 5+ years of payments risk or fraud experience with demonstrated ownership of loss and fraud outcomes. You're a strong individual contributor who writes your own code and analysis, with prior experience leading a payments risk or fraud team at a fintech or payments company strongly preferred. Experience with ACH products and fintech operations is a bonus. This is an opportunity to shape risk strategy at a high-growth, well-funded company in an emerging industry.
