Vaxcyte is a clinical-stage vaccine innovation company developing high-fidelity vaccines to protect against bacterial diseases including invasive pneumococcal disease, Group A Strep, and Shigella. This role leads procurement support for clinical development programs, serving as a strategic business partner to the Clinical Operations Department while maintaining flexibility to support enterprise-wide procurement priorities. The Senior Manager, Indirect Procurement - Clinical sits within the centralized Procurement function in Finance and serves as the primary procurement business partner to the Clinical organization. You will lead and support end-to-end procurement activities for clinical trials—from study start-up through closeout—while also flexing across other indirect spend categories to support broader enterprise needs. This role partners closely with Clinical Operations, Finance, and Legal to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective execution of vendor engagements. Key responsibilities include: serving as the primary procurement business partner to Clinical stakeholders, providing guidance on vendor strategy, budgeting, and procurement processes; owning and managing the end-to-end requisition-to-purchase order process with compliance oversight; leading the request for proposal process including bid comparison and vendor selection; providing procurement support across additional indirect spend categories such as professional services, G&A, and IT; partnering with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and spend tracking for clinical programs; driving standardization and continuous improvement of procurement processes and workflows; supporting contract negotiation activities in partnership with Clinical Operations and Legal; and managing multiple concurrent procurement activities across clinical programs in a fast-paced environment. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field with minimum 8+ years of procurement, sourcing, or vendor management experience, preferably supporting clinical trials or clinical services in a biopharmaceutical or CRO environment. Experience supporting Phase I–III clinical trials, including large multi-site studies with significant patient enrollment, is essential. Strong analytical ability and business acumen in fast-paced environments required. Must be able to work independently, prioritize work, and handle simultaneous assignments under tight deadlines. Experience with procurement and financial systems (Netsuite, SAP, Coupa, Ariba, Oracle) preferred. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across organizations and excellent verbal and written communication skills essential. Ability to work in HQ office 3-5 days per week required.
