Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is seeking a Senior Manager of Finance and Strategy to lead financial planning and analysis for the Research & Development organization. The company operates the Connected Operations Cloud, an IoT platform that helps organizations in agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing digitize and optimize their physical operations.
In this role, you will serve as the primary finance partner to Samsara's R&D leadership, working directly with C-level executives on budget allocation, headcount planning, and infrastructure investments. You will own comprehensive financial planning and analysis (FP&A) for R&D and Supply Chain Operations, including monthly budget-versus-actual reviews with VP-level stakeholders, quarterly reforecasts, and annual operating plan development across Software, Firmware, and Hardware Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain Operations.
Key responsibilities include forecasting and managing Samsara's largest cost drivers—cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margin, hardware costs, employee expenses, total compensation economics, and AI infrastructure spend. You will build scalable financial processes and leverage AI tools to automate reporting, accelerate analysis, and provide real-time visibility to R&D leadership. Additionally, you will hire, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team.
Required qualifications include 7+ years of corporate finance, FP&A, or strategic finance experience, plus 2+ years of people management and development experience. You must demonstrate strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities, cross-functional collaboration skills, and excellent communication and presentation abilities for senior management audiences.
Ideal candidates bring experience at high-growth tech companies, prior partnerships with technical leaders, comfort building new financial processes in ambiguous environments, and familiarity with AI tools such as Claude.
