LemFi is a Series B fintech building financial infrastructure for migrants and underserved communities across the Global South. The company processes over $1B in monthly transactions and serves millions of users across 20+ countries. You will join as Senior Manager of Collections, owning the end-to-end collections function across all product lines.
In this role, you will design and continuously refine collections strategy, balancing recovery rates with a customer-first approach. You'll set and own portfolio-level targets (roll rates, recovery rates, cure rates, cost per recovery) and establish data-driven governance frameworks. You will build operational playbooks for each stage of the collections journey—from early arrears contact through legal escalation—leveraging AI tools to accelerate cycle times and personalize outreach.
You will lead and develop a collections team, creating prioritization frameworks that ensure critical tasks are executed and the right problems are addressed first. Cross-functional collaboration is essential: you'll work with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance to embed collections logic into product decisions and ensure regulatory compliance across all markets.
Additional responsibilities include identifying and managing third-party debt collection agencies, legal partners, and credit bureaus for performance and conduct. You'll report portfolio health and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, translating data into actionable decisions.
Required experience includes significant background in consumer (B2C) collections or credit risk, with proven ability to span both strategy design and hands-on operational delivery. You must have experience managing or building a collections team with clear examples of setting priorities, developing people, and holding performance accountable. Working knowledge of FCA CONC 7 (Arrears, Default and Recovery) and Consumer Duty obligations is required—you should speak fluently to how these shape treatment paths, forbearance, and vulnerable customer handling.
You should be comfortable using data to diagnose portfolio problems, model scenarios, and drive decisions. SQL, BI tools, or equivalent proficiency is expected, and willingness to integrate AI into your workflow is essential. Experience in high-growth or fast-moving environments where processes were incomplete and you built as you flew is valued. Strong judgment about prioritization—distinguishing between problems that matter today and noise—is critical.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience across multiple geographies or emerging markets (particularly Africa, South Asia, or diaspora corridors), background in fintech/neobank/digital lender where collections was built early-stage, and familiarity with collections-specific tooling such as collections management systems, dialler platforms, and predictive scoring models.
