New Relic is seeking a Senior Manager of Accounting to lead a strategic transformation of its global statutory financial reporting and compliance function. This role sits within an integrated Tax and Compliance team and reports directly to the Director of Global Tax & Compliance.
You will manage end-to-end statutory audit processes across 15+ international jurisdictions, currently overseeing one direct report and 1–2 consultants. The immediate priority is stabilizing fragmented global audit cycles that currently experience bottlenecks impacting filing timelines. Rather than inheriting a blank slate, you'll partner closely with the Director—who has already diagnosed root causes and mapped process breakdowns—to validate hypotheses and co-design tactical improvements.
Key responsibilities include: leading and coordinating statutory audits across multiple countries; holding external auditors and compliance service providers accountable to timelines and quality standards; collaborating with corporate Accounting, Tax, and Legal teams to prepare audit schedules on time; resolving complex accounting and reporting issues; and streamlining interactions between internal teams and external partners. You will standardize templates, playbooks, and workflows to make the audit cycle predictable and repeatable.
Longer-term, your mandate is to build out an in-house statutory financial function where strategically appropriate, defining the roadmap to transition from external service providers to internal delivery. This includes scaling your team, mentoring current staff, and driving integration between statutory reporting and tax filings to eliminate friction in the "Stat-to-Tax" pipeline.
This is positioned as a collaborative turnaround role requiring both tactical execution and strategic vision—not a maintenance position or solo rescue mission. You'll act as a sounding board and strategic peer to the Director, challenging existing ideas and introducing best-in-class methodologies.
