Remote is a global HR-tech platform enabling businesses to recruit, pay, and manage international teams across 90+ jurisdictions. The Legal Team delivers pragmatic legal solutions protecting the company while supporting rapid scaling. The Core Team serves as the cornerstone of legal and operational support, handling routine legal processes, knowledge management, and policy development efficiently so specialized sub-teams can focus on complex, high-priority issues.
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the Legal Core Team while taking ownership of complex legal projects and mentoring junior team members. You'll be a key architect shaping the legal department's future.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Sales, Customer Experience, Onboarding, Operations) to manage expectations and adopt customer-centric approaches
- Develop excellent template contracts, playbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge resources, with focus on the EOR product
- Conduct in-depth legal research on new products and laws, identifying risks and opportunities
- Drive development and enhancement of the legal function, implementing best practices and innovative solutions
- Mentor, train, and support junior legal team members in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment
- Manage relationships with local counsel and lead litigations and collections matters when necessary
- Proactively identify and propose innovative legal solutions
You bring extensive legal practice experience, preferably in labor and employment law. You're an experienced, qualified lawyer interested in tech scale-ups and HR-tech specifically. You master communication tools (Slack, Notion, Google Drive, ZenDesk) and contract management systems. You're eager to learn different legal systems and employment laws across jurisdictions. You think creatively, solving complex issues with innovative, out-of-the-box approaches. You communicate fluently in English (additional languages helpful), distilling complex issues into clear language. You work autonomously, lead legal projects independently, and have proven mentoring experience with junior legal professionals. Remote work experience is a plus but not required.
