Pennylane is a rapidly growing European fintech company providing accounting and financial management software to SMBs. The company has raised €400M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and now operates across Europe with 1,000+ employees.
As Senior Legal Counsel, Contracts, you will be a trusted legal partner managing a broad portfolio of commercial and operational agreements across the organization. Reporting to the Lead Legal Counsel, Contracts, you'll work closely with Sales, Partnerships, Security, Finance, and Product teams within a 10-person legal department.
Key responsibilities include:
**International Contracts:** Draft and negotiate purchase orders and agreements with international partner firms, with current focus on Germany. Manage contracts with strategic suppliers and maintain templates aligned with regulatory and business developments.
**Customer & Reseller Agreements:** Improve customer terms and conditions for SME customers across France and Europe. Support Sales with contracting processes and automated quotations. Review and negotiate agreements with integrators and resellers. Anticipate contractual impacts of key regulations including e-invoicing, payment services, and the EU AI Act.
**Legal Operations:** Structure and improve internal contracting processes for efficiency and scalability. Optimize contract management tools (Tomorro, Pivot, Notion). Identify automation opportunities, including AI-driven solutions. Provide pragmatic advice to cross-functional teams and help build legal culture.
You bring extensive contract law experience from law firms (ideally IP/IT, technology, or SaaS) or fast-growing tech companies. You're fluent in English with working knowledge of French and German. You have strong expertise in B2B SaaS agreements (IP, indemnification, liability, SLAs, data provisions) and experience in multi-jurisdictional environments, particularly France and Europe. You're interested in legal operations and technology, comfortable managing matters autonomously, and able to balance legal rigor with business pragmatism in a fast-moving environment.
