Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior IT Support Analyst I to serve as the primary on-site IT support person at its Stennis Space Center facility in Mississippi. This is a hands-on role with significant autonomy and ownership over facility-wide IT infrastructure, including clients, servers, and networking systems that support engineering teams, launch technicians, and mission operations.
You will work closely with the IT Client Services Lead and broader IT teams (Infrastructure and Launch) in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. The role combines day-to-day service delivery with strategic site ownership and stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering efficient IT services through daily support functions, ticket management (Incident, Request, Problem, Change, Project), and documentation
- Diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues independently; building runbooks and knowledge bases for recurring problems
- Providing technical instruction, guidance, and documentation to site teams
- Supporting Launch and Mission Operations during active launch periods
- Taking ownership of on-site IT infrastructure (clients, servers, network)
- Building strong relationships with site leadership, engineering, and technician teams
- Serving as the recognized IT subject matter expert for the facility
- Owning medium to complex IT projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering through implementation, testing, and operational support
- Collaborating with the wider IT team on technical solutions
This position suits someone seeking autonomy and facility ownership while having access to broader IT team support. Natural curiosity, strong engineering judgment, and a drive to continuously learn are essential. You will keep critical systems running for real space technology programs and contribute to missions reaching for the stars.
The role may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, with occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years' experience in IT support, systems, or infrastructure roles
- STEM degree or equivalent technical background
- Demonstrable experience operating with limited on-site supervision
- Working knowledge of a service delivery framework such as ITIL
- Practical experience with formal Change, Incident, Problem, and Configuration management
- Experience across most, and deep capability in at least three, of the following: Windows and Linux desktop/server operating systems (imaging, maintenance, patching, troubleshooting); PC and server hardware (build, repair, upgrade, component-level diagnosis); Networking (switching, VLANs, routing basics, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wireless, PoE, structured cabling, fibre) and troubleshooting; Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash); Active Directory and Group Policy; Monitoring, alerting, and observability platforms
- Experience owning a medium to complex, end-to-end IT project across all phases
- Familiarity with common AI platforms and ability to write effective prompts, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and identify opportunities to leverage AI for service delivery and operational efficiency
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with big-picture thinking
- Ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts to general audiences
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications in ITIL, CompTIA (A+/Network+/Security+), Microsoft, or network vendor certifications
- Cloud-based technologies (Azure, AWS, O365)
- Virtualization technologies and public/private cloud environments
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible and Terraform
- Industrial/OT environments
- Video surveillance, NVR platforms, media streaming, radio/voice comms systems
- Telemetry, time-series, or test data pipelines and storage
- Security and compliance frameworks (NIST 800-171, CMMC, ISO 27001)
- Experience in fast-paced, high-tech industries (semiconductors, aerospace) supporting engineers, labs, manufacturing, and critical operations (mission control, launch, test ops)
