Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to own and scale manufacturing simulation capability. The role focuses on building and maintaining discrete event simulation and operations-research models as a long-lived, foundational asset for the Manufacturing Team.
You will architect Anduril's factory simulation capability to serve as a decision-grade tool trusted by leadership for capital, capacity, staffing, and ramp decisions. The manufacturing environment is multi-variant, low-volume, and operates under shared resources with fluctuating demand, evolving designs, and constrained supply chains—conditions where traditional capacity planning breaks down. Your models will answer critical questions: "Can we hit this rate?", "Where's the bottleneck?", and "What happens if this line goes down?" through maintained, centralized digital twins rather than one-off spreadsheets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting discrete event simulation and operations-research capability for maintainability and extensibility
- Capturing current and planned processes into validated digital twins that serve as living reference models
- Designing data pipelines that keep models current using live production data (cycle times, yields, routings, downtime, WIP, labor)
- Selecting and applying appropriate methods: baseline capacity analysis, discrete event simulation, Monte Carlo, statistical/optimization models, and queuing theory
- Leading high-stakes simulation studies: capacity modeling, NPI ramp simulation, capital-investment analysis with ROI quantification, line balancing, design-change impact analysis, and production risk/scenario planning
- Owning design of new production lines and workstation layouts using data-driven, simulation-backed approaches
- Identifying high-variation processes, imbalances, and bottlenecks; flagging constraints and driving resolution across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality
This is not a "build a model and move on" role. You will thrive in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment, remain flexible to change and ambiguity, and act as connective tissue among operational stakeholders. The right candidate demonstrates holistic ownership, can work with evolving production systems, and makes simulation digestible for program and operations leads without operations research backgrounds.
