You'll serve as Senior HR Business Partner for the Engineering and Product divisions, working directly with leaders and managers on talent strategy, organizational design, and people development. This is a high-ownership role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with Engineering and Product leaders on talent acquisition, organizational structure, succession planning, and people decisions as teams scale
- Coach managers on performance management, feedback delivery, team effectiveness, and difficult employee situations
- Identify development needs of high performers and translate them into practical programs
- Build development and talent programs from scratch, from problem identification through design, launch, adoption, and iteration
- Lead organizational design initiatives, role clarity exercises, and talent movement planning
- Manage talent and performance processes for Engineering, Product, and Design while maintaining focus on outcomes over process
- Identify patterns across teams and translate them into actionable recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Recruiting, People Operations, and the broader People team
- Move fluidly between strategic advisory work and hands-on program building
You'll need 8+ years of HRBP experience, ideally with technical organizations (Engineering, Product, or similar). Startup experience is essential—you understand rapid scaling, ambiguity, and evolving priorities. You've personally built and launched programs where infrastructure didn't exist (0→1 builder). You're an excellent manager coach who can challenge experienced leaders, have strong judgment on complex people situations, and operate with high performance standards. You're direct, low-ego, and focused on outcomes. The role requires in-person presence in San Francisco five days per week.
