You will serve as Senior HR Business Partner supporting Mercor's Delivery organization, which sits at the center of turning customer demand into high-quality human data. This is a hands-on role requiring deep partnership with Delivery leaders and managers on critical people decisions: talent placement in key roles, operator development, management effectiveness, organizational structure, and performance management. Key responsibilities include: - Partner directly with Delivery leadership on talent, organization design, management, performance and workforce decisions as the organization scales - Develop deep understanding of accounts, customer environments, and business economics to make grounded people recommendations - Raise performance standards by helping managers distinguish exceptional from strong performance and address underperformance quickly - Identify and develop high-performing operators early, creating meaningful growth opportunities through larger accounts, expanded scope, or management roles - Coach managers on feedback, expectations, team effectiveness, difficult conversations and leadership behavior - Identify retention risks early and work with leaders on targeted interventions addressing scope, compensation, manager quality, career progression and market factors - Partner on role clarity, organization design, succession planning, spans/layers and talent movement - Bring a people lens to staffing and workload decisions, identifying when operational friction becomes a talent problem - Support leaders through performance concerns, conduct issues, organizational changes and exits with speed and good judgment - Run talent and performance mechanisms for Delivery, adapting company-wide approaches for a fast-moving organization - Identify patterns in talent, performance and retention signals to guide leadership intervention - Build new talent mechanisms, manager tools and practices as the business evolves This role requires someone who understands the human data industry deeply and can operate as a true business partner, not at arm's length. You will work five days per week in-person at the San Francisco office. REQUIREMENTS: - Human data industry experience is required. You must have worked inside a company delivering human data or human expertise for AI systems, including AI training data, expert data, RLHF, model evaluation, data annotation, labeling, or closely related human data operations. You understand how these businesses actually run. - 8+ years of strong HRBP experience as the primary People partner to senior leaders, able to independently handle complex organizational and talent decisions - Experience supporting operations or delivery organizations where performance is closely tied to customers, quality, speed, capacity and execution - High-growth startup experience comfortable with rapid organizational change, incomplete systems, ambiguous ownership and significant business evolution - Strong business judgment to understand operational dynamics, separate symptoms from root causes and make clear recommendations - High performance orientation comfortable differentiating performance, investing in exceptional people and addressing weak performance directly - Excellent manager coaching skills; ability to make managers better and challenge experienced leaders when their approach contributes to problems - Strong talent instinct to recognize people with unusual trajectory, understand retention drivers and create growth opportunities - 0→1 builder experience creating useful talent, manager or organizational practices from minimal infrastructure - Operator mindset that stays close to work to ensure solutions actually work, not just identifying problems - Direct communication style, low ego, comfortable with disagreement and focused on reaching the right answer - Ability to work in-person five days per week from San Francisco office
