Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Global Sourcing Manager for Raw Metals to serve as the domain expert for metals commodities. This is a strategic, high-impact role responsible for securing critical raw materials (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.) that power Anduril's defense systems and AI-powered platforms.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing commodity strategies focused on cost reduction, technology development, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience. You will own end-to-end delivery of quality materials at optimal cost, aggregate raw metals usage across all business units to develop company-wide sourcing strategies, and lead RFI/RFQ/RFP processes. The role requires managing critical supplier relationships, ensuring continuity of supply, managing risk, negotiating costs, and overseeing new product introduction through manufacturing ramp.
You will partner closely with engineering teams and suppliers to influence technical design specifications and customize manufacturing requirements. Responsibilities include performing detailed total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) analysis on quote submissions, working cross-functionally to support prototype requirements and build milestones, and influencing supplier manufacturing processes and capital expenditure decisions. You will negotiate key supplier agreements covering pricing, quality, flexibility, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms.
Additional duties include providing technical direction within metals commodities, evaluating and guiding product strategy throughout the lifecycle, developing commercial agreements reflecting project expectations (fixed/variable costs, lead-times, schedules, capacities), conducting regular commodity reviews to executive staff, and managing supplier performance metrics (delivery, quality, cost, innovation). You will serve as the primary escalation point for your commodity and act as a strong cross-functional collaborator.
Required: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field; 5+ years in supply chain commodity management of raw metals and/or sourcing engineering; ability to travel up to 50%; willingness to relocate to Costa Mesa, CA for onsite work.
Preferred: Bachelor's in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering; prior defense, aerospace, automotive, or high-tech industry experience; expertise in TCO analysis; strategic commodity strategy/roadmap development; proven cross-functional leadership and influence; ability to obtain and maintain U.S. TS/SCI clearance.
