Salary: USD 160,000 - 180,000 / annual
Seed Health is a microbiome science company pioneering clinically validated innovations for gut and whole-body health. The company has built a profitable DTC business with category-leading retention, grown revenue 5x in the last 36 months, and expanded reach across new channels and markets. You'll join a team of researchers, clinicians, designers, engineers, and builders aligned in belief in the transformative potential of the microbiome.
As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will lead the frontend implementation of Seed's digital experience. You have a deep love for product, a keen eye for design, and the technical depth to turn ambitious designs into fast, accessible, pixel-perfect features on the React/Next.js platform. You work inside a design system owned by a Staff peer and contribute production-ready components back to it. You partner early with Design and Product, own quality on your squad's surfaces, and raise the frontend bar for engineers around you through code review, pairing, and mentoring.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead frontend implementation of new features from Figma through production, translating designs into production-ready code with obsessive attention to spacing, typography, motion, and responsiveness
- Own the frontend architecture behind features: state management, data fetching, rendering performance, and test coverage
- Build accessible, performant interfaces that hold up across browsers and devices
- Ship safely using feature flags, A/B tests, instrumentation, and clear rollback paths
- Partner early with Design and Product to assess feasibility and resolve ambiguity
- Build composable, reusable React components into the shared design system library, following its architecture, APIs, and documentation standards
- Use design tokens and theming consistently so components built once are available everywhere
- Document additions via usage guidelines, code examples, and Storybook stories
- Conduct thoughtful code reviews holding the squad to high standards in component design, accessibility, and visual fidelity
- Mentor engineers on the team through pairing
- Champion consistent use of the shared component library across web applications
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of professional experience in frontend engineering
- Strong portfolio or GitHub showing frontend work and eye for UI craft
- Track record of shipping production frontend features end-to-end, on schedule
- Experience working day to day with designers and product managers
- Expert-level React and Next.js (TypeScript required)
- Strong understanding of design systems, design tokens, and component API design
- Strong fundamentals in state management, data fetching, rendering performance (Core Web Vitals), and testing
- Comfortable working from Figma designs and specs
- Experience with Storybook and at least one of CSS-in-JS, CSS Modules, or Tailwind CSS
- Working knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG)
- Clear communicator able to articulate design and technical trade-offs to engineering, design, and product partners
- Comfortable building within an architecture someone else owns while bringing an independent point of view
- Experience giving and receiving constructive feedback
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience translating motion design concepts into production-ready animations (Framer Motion, GSAP)
- Experience in high-growth DTC or e-commerce companies, ideally on a headless Shopify stack
- Fluency with AI-assisted development (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)
- Knowledge of A/B testing frameworks and experimentation methodologies
- Background in health, wellness, or science-focused consumer brands
- Experience at a consumer brand known for design craft and obsessive attention to detail
