Juniper Square is hiring a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join Applied AI, the company's custom AI engineering unit. You'll work directly with private equity and hedge fund clients (GPs) to design, build, and deploy AI agents that solve operational problems in private markets. This is a full-lifecycle role: you own discovery, scoping, design, build, deployment, and ongoing operation of solutions you ship.
You'll combine product management and full-stack engineering, operating independently while supported by a world-class engineering team. Working with GP clients—CFOs, COOs, heads of technology, fund accountants, and deal teams—you'll identify workflows where custom AI agents create real leverage. You'll translate ambiguous business problems into clear requirements, scope, and acceptance criteria, then carry each solution through prototype, validation, hardening, deployment, and production rollout.
Key responsibilities include designing agentic systems (retrieval, context design, tool and MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses), building observability and cost controls for production reliability, operating client-edge solutions, and partnering with platform and product teams on core system integrations. You'll make engineering trade-offs that balance speed with reliability and security, finding velocity through reuse rather than shortcuts. Post-launch, you own adoption, support, iteration on user feedback, and ongoing operation. You'll also mentor less experienced engineers and set technical standards.
Required: 5+ years shipping production software end-to-end with hands-on AI-enabled application experience. You must have a track record of owning delivery (not just implementation), translating ambiguous business needs into working software, and full-stack capability across data, services, UIs, and infrastructure. Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience (containers, IaC, CI/CD, monitoring) is essential. Direct client-facing delivery experience is required. You need fluency with AI-assisted development paired with depth to understand, debug, and defend everything you ship, plus strong product judgment on scoping and prioritization.
