Salary: GBP 60,000 - 65,000 / annual

Monzo is a fast-growing fintech company on a mission to make money work for everyone. The Financial Control Team sits within Monzo's Finance collective and is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and controlling processes as the company expands into new products, markets, and locations. You'll join a team of seven qualified accountants split between Cardiff and London offices, working closely with Finance and product teams to maintain ledger integrity at month-end and support the company's ambitious growth plans. Key responsibilities include: - Embedding and automating the software capitalisation process in collaboration with engineering and business teams - Acting as product owner for financial reporting processes related to software capitalisation, operating key controls during month-end close and performing impairment assessments - Applying strong technical knowledge of IFRS standards for capitalisation and impairment to support and challenge the business on judgement areas and documentary evidence - Managing month-end close processes and group consolidation with the internal Finance team - Writing insightful management commentary based on business and product understanding - Optimising accounting systems to minimise manual reporting elements - Learning SQL to run reports and propose efficient, scalable solutions - Supporting year-end processes with external auditors and the Financial Reporting squad - Reviewing new products and assessing accounting implications for the banking platform and accounting system - Evaluating the impact of accounting standard changes and proposing accounting policy matters for new products - Maintaining chart of accounts and financial static data integrity - Supporting forecasting, valuations, transfer pricing, tax policy research, and other finance team needs You're a qualified accountant with 2+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally in financial reporting/controlling teams within retail banking. You have strong technical accounting knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine interest in banking and regulatory landscapes.
