Iambic Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotech company founded in 2020 and based in San Diego, is seeking a Senior or Executive Medical Director to lead clinical development strategy for its early-stage oncology portfolio. This role owns end-to-end clinical strategy and execution from IND-enabling activities through first-in-human and early efficacy studies, serving as the clinical and scientific lead on cross-functional program teams.
Key responsibilities include: authoring and driving clinical components of IND submissions (protocols, investigator's brochures, regulatory documents); designing first-in-human and early-phase oncology trials with dose-escalation strategies, biomarker plans, and eligibility criteria; providing medical monitoring and safety oversight for active trials; partnering with translational science and AI/ML platform teams to define patient selection and pharmacodynamic endpoints; engaging key opinion leaders and investigators; collaborating cross-functionally with Regulatory Affairs, CMC, Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, and Program Management; and contributing to portfolio-level decisions and business development as needed.
Required qualifications: M.D. or D.O. (or international equivalent) with board eligibility/certification in hematology/oncology or medical oncology preferred; 5+ years (Senior) or 8–10+ years (Executive) of drug-development experience in biotech or pharma; direct hands-on experience authoring and executing IND submissions; direct experience designing and running Phase 1/early-phase oncology clinical trials; demonstrated oncology asset experience and understanding of the oncology therapeutic landscape; and working knowledge of GCP, ICH guidelines, and global regulatory environment.
Preferred qualifications include small-molecule oncology and targeted therapy experience, taking programs from candidate nomination through clinical proof-of-concept, comfort in fast-paced data-rich technology-forward environments, and prior health authority presentation or BD due diligence experience.
