As Senior Engineering Manager for the Consumer domain, you will set technical and organizational direction for a domain spanning three teams. You'll manage three direct-report Engineering Managers and one Staff Engineer, overseeing 15–25 engineers total. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing the Consumer domain with a focus on technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams handling payments, money management, and credit access for millions of users.
- Investing actively in coaching and developing your reporting managers, calibrating performance, and identifying stretch opportunities for both managers and individual engineers.
- Translating product and business goals into a clear, predictable technical roadmap across multiple teams, resolving cross-team dependencies, and ensuring reliable execution.
- Partnering closely with Product leadership, Staff/Principal Engineers, and peer Engineering Managers to align priorities and define engineering standards.
- Keeping senior leadership informed on domain progress, risks, and blockers, translating technical complexity into business-relevant terms.
- Providing architectural guidance across PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot, AWS infrastructure (EC2/ECS/EKS, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, ElasticSearch), and Datadog.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years in backend engineering, with at least 4+ years managing engineers in a fast-paced, product-driven environment, including experience managing other managers.
- Strong empathy and coaching skills with a proven track record of developing engineers and managers while fostering an inclusive culture.
- Strong command of distributed systems and API design to guide multiple teams in building robust, scalable services in high-growth or regulated environments.
- Proven ability to own end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-team initiatives using Agile methodologies and metrics to improve velocity and quality.
- Fluency in English with the ability to engage comfortably with engineers, non-technical stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Genuine interest in fintech and investment products, with an appreciation for building in a regulated, high-trust environment.
