Render is a modern cloud platform for developers building AI-native, full-stack applications. The company has raised $260M in funding (Series C in February 2026) and serves over 7 million developers worldwide.
As Senior Engineering Manager for Agent Platform & Growth, you will lead two teams focused on reimagining Render's onboarding and activation experience. One team owns the human user experience—signup, onboarding, activation, and platform adoption. The other team builds the equivalent experience for AI agents, enabling them to integrate with Render through APIs and work with providers like Codex, Claude, and Cursor. You'll guide these teams through their next stage of growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing both the UX team (human onboarding) and Agent Platform team (programmatic interfaces including MCP, CLI, API, SDK, and Blueprints)
- Owning the roadmap for Render's self-serve user journey from first touch through activation, initial monetization, usage expansion, and feature adoption
- Driving the agent-facing platform experience and API-driven integration capabilities
- Partnering with dedicated product and design leads to align roadmap with customer, growth, and platform needs
- Hiring and developing engineers to support planned team growth while maintaining clear team identities and focus
- Making key architectural and product decisions balancing long-term platform investment against iterative improvements
- Building strong performance management and career development practices for a team including senior individual contributors
You'll operate in a startup environment that values craft, velocity, and user experience, with an emphasis on reasoned discussion, continuous feedback, and mutual trust.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong people leadership (top priority)
- Hands-on capability to review code, prototype, and contribute directly when needed
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with adaptability and growth mindset
- Proven experience building and scaling multiple teams, ideally growing from a handful of engineers into a larger organization
- Experience managing and developing senior (IC5+) engineers, including hiring and performance management
- Ability to partner closely with product and design without filling those functions yourself
- Strong product instincts connecting engineering investment to growth and activation outcomes
- Background from a startup preferred, though larger company experience acceptable if you can operate at pace
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Prior growth-focused engineering experience (onboarding, activation, funnel optimization)
- Experience building developer- or agent-facing product experiences and integrating with AI coding tools (Codex, Claude, Cursor)
- Background in developer platforms or DevTools
- Experience helping teams split or reorganize as they scale into multiple teams
