Remote is a global HR platform enabling businesses to recruit, pay, and manage international teams compliantly across 80+ countries. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will independently manage complex end-to-end employee exits and provide first-level employee relations support for Remote's external clients.
Key responsibilities include:
**Offboarding & Exits**: Manage complex, multi-jurisdictional employee separations with minimal supervision, ensuring legal compliance and superior customer experience. Lead and facilitate meetings with clients and employees, including workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, and termination negotiations. Draft and administer termination documents with strict attention to detail and privacy compliance. Coordinate with internal teams (payroll, legal, benefits, time & attendance) and external stakeholders (government bodies, trade unions, legal counsel) to ensure proper administration of exits.
**Employee Relations Support**: Provide first-level guidance on workplace concerns, conducting preliminary assessments to identify facts, applicable regulations, and resolution paths. Serve as a trusted resource for clients navigating complex scenarios, offering expertise on progressive discipline, documentation, and best practices for difficult situations.
**Process Improvement & Mentorship**: Drive process improvements aligned with Remote's strategic goals. Act as an escalation point and mentor to junior team members, providing expertise and guidance.
**Stakeholder Management**: Influence positive outcomes in complex terminations by navigating multiple stakeholders with competing interests. Maintain employee records with strict adherence to privacy regulations and coordinate across Remote's HRIS platform.
The role requires deep knowledge of international employment law, excellent judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
