Salary: USD 180,000 - 230,000 / annual

Nimble Robotics is an AI robotics company building autonomous supply chain solutions. The company has raised over $220M at a $1B+ valuation and formed a strategic alliance with FedEx to develop a national network of autonomous warehouses. The founding team includes AI researchers from Stanford and Carnegie Mellon, with board advisors including Fei-Fei Li (Chief Scientist of AI at Google), Marc Raibert (founder of Boston Dynamics), and Sebastian Thrun (founder of GoogleX and Waymo). As a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Electronics, you will design and own motor controller boards and power distribution boards for robotic platforms, from architecture through production validation. Your responsibilities include: - Design motor controller boards, power distribution boards, and high-power electronics for robotic systems - Own power-stage architecture, schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout for MOSFETs, gate drivers, current sensing, protection circuits, and thermal management - Define grounding, power sequencing, fault handling, and interfaces between batteries, motors, sensors, and compute systems - Develop drive electronics and commutation interfaces with control firmware - Collaborate with firmware, controls, mechanical, and software engineers on system integration and testing - Write and execute validation plans covering efficiency, thermal performance, transient response, fault conditions, EMC/EMI, and environmental limits - Diagnose power integrity, motor control, thermal, and reliability failures in lab and deployed robots - Shepherd designs through DFM, certification, production testing, and manufacturing ramp - Drive the team's electrical design best practices You will work in a high-intensity, fast-moving environment with a team of world-class engineers focused on building legendary robotics technology. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field - 4+ years designing power electronics, motor drives, or high-current embedded hardware - Experience designing motor controller boards, power distribution boards, DC/DC converters, inverters, or related power systems - Knowledge of power semiconductors, gate drives, current and voltage sensing, magnetics, protection circuits, and control loops - Experience with thermal analysis, power integrity, grounding, creepage and clearance, and high-current PCB layout - Proficiency with Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or comparable PCB design tools - Ability to run circuit, power electronics, and thermal simulations to validate designs before hardware testing - Familiarity with embedded systems and protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, UART) - Lab experience with oscilloscopes, current probes, electronic loads, power analyzers, and thermal cameras - Record of shipping hardware products to production - Knowledge of EMC/EMI design, functional safety, and regulatory compliance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Power electronics experience in electric vehicles, mobile robots, industrial robotics, or autonomous systems - Experience with three-phase BLDC/PMSM motor drives, field-oriented control, regenerative braking, and motor characterization - Experience with batteries, battery management systems, pre-charge circuits, contactors, fusing, and high-current or high-voltage distribution - Knowledge of embedded firmware, motor-control algorithms, and low-level software interfaces - Experience developing high-reliability or safety-critical systems - Familiarity with DFM, DFA, production testing, and manufacturing processes - Record of learning new design methods and applying AI tools to component research, circuit analysis, design reviews, documentation, or debugging
