Steno is a legal tech platform founded in 2018 that has raised over $90M and serves thousands of law firms nationwide with litigation support solutions combining expert services, proprietary data, and modern technology. This is a first-of-its-kind Director-level role building Steno's Total Rewards, HRIS, and People Data function from the ground up with full executive support. You will own the strategic design and execution of compensation, benefits, HR systems, and people analytics as the company scales. Key responsibilities: - Shape Total Rewards and HRIS philosophy and strategy, ensuring programs are competitive, equitable, and scalable - Build a rigorous, market-informed total compensation framework spanning job architecture, pay bands, bonus, and equity - Oversee benefits strategy and administration end-to-end, ensuring competitiveness, compliance, and employee value - Establish HRIS and People Data foundation including systems roadmap, data integrity, integrations, and reporting - Partner with IT, Data, and functional leaders as thought partner on people technology, tools, and metrics You are a senior Total Rewards and HRIS leader with deep expertise at high-growth companies. You've built compensation frameworks, benefits programs, HR systems, and people analytics capabilities. You understand that the hard part isn't administration—it's designing programs that drive talent strategy and scale with the business. You lead with data and judgment, equally comfortable presenting compensation philosophy to executives or diving into systems integration details. You're a builder energized by foundational work, you earn trust across functions quickly, and you understand that Total Rewards and HRIS done well is a meaningful business driver.
