Stash is seeking a Senior Director of Strategic Finance to lead the company's Financial Planning & Analysis function and drive operational excellence in support of its mission to democratize wealth creation. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own FP&A strategy, lead an established team, and serve as a trusted advisor translating complex financial data into actionable business insights.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Stash's FP&A function: annual planning, long-range planning, forecasting, management reporting, and performance management
- Partner with the CFO to develop financial strategy and support key business initiatives
- Lead and develop the Strategic Finance team, building scalable FP&A processes and financial infrastructure
- Own company-wide budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment between strategic priorities and financial outcomes
- Develop and monitor KPIs and operational metrics, delivering insights that improve decision-making across the organization
- Partner with business leaders to evaluate investments, optimize resource allocation, and improve operating performance
- Prepare materials and analyses for the Board, executive leadership, and investors
- Lead financial modeling, scenario planning, and sensitivity analyses for critical strategic decisions
- Partner with Accounting and Data Science to improve financial reporting and data quality
- Support Corporate Development initiatives including evaluating partnerships, investments, acquisitions, and growth opportunities through financial analysis and due diligence
- Help shape Stash's long-term financial strategy and capital allocation framework
You bring 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or corporate finance. You have proven success leading high-performing FP&A organizations, preferably in high-growth technology or fintech. You excel at partnering with executive leadership and influencing strategic decisions through data-driven insights. You possess strong financial modeling, forecasting, valuation, and business analysis capabilities, with deep understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, budgeting, and operating metrics.
You have strong familiarity with subscription business metrics (ARR, CAC payback, LTV:CAC, cohort retention, unit economics) and experience translating analysis into pricing, packaging, and retention strategy. Experience evaluating strategic investments, M&A, or corporate development is strongly preferred. You have demonstrated success building and leading teams while developing future finance leaders. You are highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail and a bias toward action. You communicate complex analyses clearly to executives and have advanced Excel and financial modeling skills. Experience with planning systems, BI tools, SQL, or large-scale data analysis is preferred. Familiarity with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar) is valued.
The role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring on-site presence in the New York office at least three days per week.
