Salary: USD 280,000 - 300,000 / annual
Mirum Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on rare disease treatments, seeks a Senior Director of Shared Services to lead the strategy, evolution, and delivery of the company's global shared services organization. Based at the Foster City headquarters and reporting to the SVP Controller, this role will oversee a scalable, high-performing service model supporting a publicly traded, global commercial biotech company.
Responsibilities include leading global service delivery across Procure-to-Pay/Accounts Payable, Payroll, Travel & Expense, Master Data, banking and payment operations, and transactional accounting activities. The role encompasses leadership of the company's global stock administration function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant administration of equity compensation programs, including oversight of equity transactions, administration systems, operational controls, reconciliations, employee support, and relationships with brokers and transfer agents.
Key accountabilities include establishing service levels and performance metrics; driving global process standardization, simplification, and automation; building and developing a high-performing global team; leading process redesign and digital enablement initiatives; partnering with IT and functional leaders to optimize ERP, payroll, and equity administration systems; maintaining a strong control environment appropriate for a U.S. publicly traded company (including SOX compliance and segregation of duties); and serving as a trusted partner to senior leaders on operational scalability and organizational design.
The successful candidate will be an enterprise-minded leader combining strategic thinking with strong operational execution, comfortable in dynamic, high-growth environments, and skilled at balancing efficiency, customer service, risk, controls, and business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline; advanced degree or professional certification preferred
- 15+ years of progressive experience in global shared services, finance operations, accounting operations, or related functions, including significant senior leadership experience
- Prior leadership experience in a comparable Shared Services or Global Business Services role within a public company with at least $1 billion in annual revenue
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-process operations across multiple countries, legal entities, and functional stakeholders
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal control, and SOX requirements of a U.S. publicly traded company
- Experience overseeing or partnering closely with stock administration/equity operations; direct stock administration leadership experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success leading process standardization, transformation, automation, and technology-enabled change
- Experience with major ERP, payroll, equity administration, and related enterprise platforms
- Experience managing outsourced service providers and strategic third-party relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing global teams and influence senior stakeholders across organizational boundaries
- Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred
