bunch is building the operating infrastructure for private markets, combining AI-powered automation with regulatory expertise to replace fragmented spreadsheets with an integrated platform. The company has 4x'd ARR in 2025, crossed 150 fund managers and 12,000 LPs, and just closed a $35M Series B in May 2026.
You will lead and scale the finance function at a high-growth, VC-backed fintech at an inflection point, reporting directly to the founders and management team. This is a hands-on role that grows into a VP Finance track as the company scales toward Series C and exit.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the full budgeting cycle end-to-end (top-down and bottom-up), running monthly variance reviews and quarterly budget control processes; translate business strategy into financial plans with clear KPIs
- Build and maintain robust cash forecasting models, providing regular management updates on burn rate and runway
- Prepare monthly and quarterly board updates, present financial performance to investors, and field questions on KPIs
- Set up analytical foundations for a Series C/D company: own unit economics, cohort analyses, profitability modelling; centralize Finance as the single source of truth for financial and operational KPIs; drive data quality improvements across Sales and Analytics
- Lead all financial aspects of equity rounds—modelling, due diligence management, investor responses; get bunch Series C ready
- Manage financial due diligence on acquisitions, build M&A models, support target selection, and own Finance's role in post-merger integration
- Own banking relationships and build a network of German and European banking partners; manage liquidity optimization and establish treasury policies for the group
- Scope and lead ERP system implementation across the bunch group
- Act as primary liaison for external bookkeeping, accounting, and tax advisory relationships
- Lead and develop the finance and accounting team; hire as the function grows
- Drive process optimization, automation, and excellence; position Finance as a genuine driver of growth
The role combines hands-on technical work now with strategic leadership as the function scales. You'll work with multi-entity and multi-currency structures, manage complex financial models, and be the strategic finance partner to management and investors.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in in-house finance (ideally SaaS or VC-backed), PE, management/financial consultancy, or investment banking; no previous Head of Finance experience required
- Track record of building robust financial models from scratch; comfort with multi-entity and multi-currency structures
- Familiarity with accounting, billing, and spend management tools (DATEV, Stripe, Moss, Spendesk); ERP experience (NetSuite, etc.) is a plus
- If from in-house environment, proven ownership of forecasting and budgeting cycles, not just supporting them
- Hands-on approach now, strategic later; wants to "do" and build from scratch, not just manage others
- Excellent technical expertise combined with versatility, commercial flexibility, and presence to be strategic finance partner; equally comfortable in boardroom and spreadsheet
- Excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex financial data into clear narratives for non-finance stakeholders
- High proactivity and solutions-orientation
- Fund industry or fintech experience is a plus, not required
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and building processes where few exist
- Fluent in English; B2/C1+ German strongly preferred
