Aescape is a New York-based physical AI and robotics company transforming human recovery through intelligent, precision bodywork. The company uses real-time body mapping, advanced robotics, and proprietary software to deliver personalized bodywork that adapts to individuals, helping them move with greater ease and recover more efficiently. Aescape partners with leading fitness, hospitality, and wellness brands including Equinox, Life Time, Marriott, Hilton, Four Seasons, and others. The Senior Director of People will lead all people operations, reporting directly to the CEO. This is a hybrid role requiring significant on-site presence at the NYC office (3-4 days/week) with flexibility for remote work. Key responsibilities include: developing and executing overall People strategy aligned with company goals; managing day-to-day HR operations including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and performance management using Rippling and Ashby; ensuring US and international compliance across teams in NYC, remote US, Canada, Mexico, UK, and Japan; serving as trusted advisor to CEO and leadership on organizational design; managing talent acquisition and headcount planning; developing compensation philosophy and leveling frameworks; building manager and leadership development programs; and generating HR analytics and insights. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of HR leadership experience at Senior Director level or equivalent (Head of People, VP/Director of People Ops), with proven success building and scaling People functions in fast-paced tech or wellness startups. Required expertise includes modern HRIS/ATS platforms (Rippling, Ashby), Google Workspace, Slack, and Notion; deep knowledge of US labor laws, visa/immigration processes (H-1B, TN visas), and international HR practices including Canadian employment law; and experience with EOR models for global teams. A Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field is required; HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, PHR) are preferred. The role demands a proactive, adaptable leader who is tech-enthusiastic and interested in health, wellness, and longevity.
