Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical Earth observation data via a cloud platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. The company combines space hardware, manufacturing, data processing, and software engineering with a global workforce across San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and The Netherlands.
As Senior Director of Global Talent Acquisition, you will own Planet's end-to-end hiring strategy and lead a geographically distributed talent team. You report to the Chief People Officer and serve as the executive voice for recruitment across the organization.
Key responsibilities include: setting and executing global talent acquisition strategy; building, leading, and developing a high-performing, multi-regional recruiting team; designing and operating a recruiting model based on capacity planning, forecasting, process design, and analytics to deliver predictable hiring outcomes against company growth plans; partnering with executive leadership and hiring managers to translate headcount plans into results; owning talent acquisition operations, systems, and reporting with clean data and consistent processes; building and managing the external staffing partner ecosystem; championing candidate experience, employer brand, and inclusive hiring practices; and using data to measure outcomes and report progress to senior leadership.
You bring 10+ years leading talent acquisition at scale in high-growth organizations with geographically distributed teams, plus 8+ years managing recruiters, sourcers, coordinators, and recruiting managers. You have a proven track record designing recruiting models built on capacity planning, forecasting, process, and analytics rather than reactive execution. Experience hiring for technical and specialized roles (engineering, hardware, complex disciplines) is essential. You can partner with and influence executives, manage external staffing vendors, and are fluent with ATS systems, reporting, and analytics. Multi-region hiring experience, including outside the US, is required.
Standout qualifications include scaling talent acquisition in aerospace, hardware, deep tech, or complex engineering; building or maturing recruiting operations and analytics capabilities; familiarity with global employment across EMEA and APAC; and experience integrating AI or automation into recruiting workflows.
This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.
