Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering unprecedented geospatial datasets to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. The Professional Services Global Defense & Intelligence (D&I) team is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to support the implementation, integration, and analysis of software and data products that extend the Planet Platform for strategic D&I customers.
You will be embedded with customers to train users on Planet products, translate mission-critical requirements into technical solutions, design workflows, and communicate directly with Planet's product engineering teams. Your work will be highly visible, directly impacting customers' ability to access Planet's datasets and streamline internal processes for onboarding new customers.
Key responsibilities include: understanding client needs and delivering tailored solutions; breaking down ambiguous, high-stakes problems into clearly defined components; leveraging analytical skills to support D&I mission requirements; designing workflows, defining data models, configuring integrations, and defining tooling aligned to customer missions; training users and iterating in real time to ensure Planet solutions become mission-critical; translating operational requirements into actionable product feedback; communicating technical capabilities in mission-focused language; rapidly prototyping and adjusting workflows; mapping high-level strategy with decision makers; and collaborating with customer teams to understand workflows, pain points, and priorities.
Required qualifications: 6+ years supporting D&I customers with specialized technical experience in systems integration; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar; fluency in Golang, Python, PostgreSQL, and React or related technologies; experience with cloud deployments (GCP, AWS, Azure); solid problem-solving and systems thinking; exceptional communication and stakeholder management; ability to quickly learn new technical domains; comfort in ambiguous, dynamic environments; fluency translating between technical and non-technical audiences; experience solving complex problems analytically; and experience scaling and maintaining production systems.
Standout qualifications include: experience with defense and intelligence organizations in Asia Pacific; systems integration experience with multi-domain/multi-level security architectures in defense and intelligence; working knowledge of JavaScript mapping libraries (OpenLayers, Leaflet, ArcGIS API), Google Earth Engine SDK; RDBMS and distributed database experience; geopolitics and data science background; geospatial technologies expertise; GEOINT experience, imagery exploitation and analysis; and multilingual fluency.
This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the Seoul office.
