Divergent 3D is building advanced manufacturing and engineering solutions for automotive OEMs and U.S. aerospace and defense companies. As Senior Cost Accountant, you will serve as a subject-matter expert in cost accounting, owning core activities across month-end close, reconciliations, standard cost management, inventory valuation, and financial controls.
You will operate with significant autonomy across multiple cost accounting workstreams, independently resolving complex accounting and operational issues, defining scalable practices, and influencing functional decisions that strengthen inventory and COGS reporting accuracy and integrity.
Key responsibilities include:
**Month-End Close Support:** Own assigned cost accounting close workstreams end-to-end, independently establishing priorities, resolving complex issues, and ensuring accurate and timely completion. Prepare and post journal entries for assigned close areas, including accruals, reclassifications, and timing corrections. Own sub-ledger to GL reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring alignment between operational systems and general ledger.
**Standard Cost & Inventory Valuation:** Manage standard cost updates, variance analysis, and investigations. Support inventory valuation methodologies and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory records and costing systems.
**Process Improvement & Controls:** Define and improve cost accounting methodologies, reconciliations, and financial controls. Work closely with Supply Chain (Warehouse, Procurement, Planning), Production, Program Management, and IT teams to strengthen the Cost Accounting and Finance function. Develop scalable practices that improve accuracy, reliability, and scalability of reporting.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Partner with operational teams to resolve cost accounting issues, support system implementations, and enhance data quality. Provide subject-matter expertise to guide functional decisions and strengthen financial controls.
This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across the organization.
