Anduril Industries, a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, and sensor fusion, is scaling operations in Sydney. This Senior Cost Accountant role is foundational to the growing Finance and Accounting function, reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager.
You will execute end-to-end cost accounting for a portion of Anduril's product portfolio, ensuring accuracy and cost control across development, manufacturing, and production. Key responsibilities include: standard costing and manufacturing variance analysis; month-end close processes with exception resolution, cost roll-ups, and inventory/WIP reconciliations; asset capitalization, depreciation, and accounting treatment for hardware across product lifecycles; physical and cycle count program administration; partnership with Production, Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering on manufacturing performance analysis; support for Australian Defence contract pricing and government procurement audits; SOX compliance and IPO readiness initiatives; Oracle Fusion optimization; and mentoring of new team members as the function scales.
Required: Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance (CA, CPA, or equivalent preferred); 5+ years progressive cost accounting in manufacturing, particularly complex low-volume/high-dollar environments; strong IFRS/IAS knowledge (IAS 2, IAS 16, IFRS 15); Program Management and Production Cost Controls experience; external audit support experience; advanced Oracle Fusion or similar ERP proficiency; strong cross-functional communication and leadership; Australian citizenship and ability to obtain NV1 security clearance; flexibility for U.S. time zone collaboration.
Desirable: IPO preparation experience; Defence/Aerospace/advanced technology manufacturing background; U.S. government contracting knowledge (FAR/DFAR/CAS); Australian Defence procurement familiarity (ASDEFCON, AIC).
