ClickHouse, a Forbes Cloud 100 company and leader in real-time analytics and data warehousing, is hiring a Senior Consulting Engineer to join its global Support Services team. The role blends hands-on engineering, development assistance, and high-tier customer support, split between project-based consulting (50%) and case-initiated consultative support (50%). In the project engineering capacity, you'll serve as a team member on customer projects, focusing on design, architecture, integration, implementation, and documentation. This includes research, benchmarking, performance and functional testing, reference architectures, sizing, migration, integration, development, and tooling. In the consultative support capacity, you'll provide case-initiated support to strategic users, customers, and prospects, assisting with implementation, onboarding, production launches, and proof-of-concept engagements. You'll provide architectural, technical, and migration assistance, including hands-on tasks, and work as a member of the support team handling L1 to L3 cases when not actively assigned to customer projects. You'll partner closely with product management, engineering, and sales to contribute to the product roadmap and account plans. You'll develop and assist with content including public and internal documentation, knowledge base articles, learning materials, reference architectures, blogs, and benchmark results. As the team grows, you'll assist with hiring and mentoring new team members. The role requires availability for 24x7 global support scheduling and on-call needs, with up to 35% estimated onsite regional travel to provide in-person support to customers in Tokyo and other locations. While based in Japan, your exact location within the country does not matter as the role is not office-based. Requirements: 5+ years in professional services, support, technical account management, engineering/SRE, or project management; 5+ years implementing, operating, or supporting scalable, fault-tolerant distributed database management systems; technical breadth in DBMS, OLAP, cloud/SaaS platforms, distributed systems, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, system/network administration, and big data.
