Kin Insurance, a remote-first fintech company specializing in homeowners insurance, seeks a Senior Complex Claims Adjuster to manage high-exposure property claims from first notice of loss through resolution. You will investigate, negotiate, and settle represented and large-loss files while guiding policyholders through critical moments. In this role, you will examine and interpret insurance policies to determine coverage and liability, draft and adjust damage estimates using Xactimate and Xactanalysis, conduct thorough investigations including recorded statements and property inspections, manage vendor relationships, and negotiate settlements with attorneys and public adjusters. You'll write clear documentation, manage caseloads across multiple states, and apply knowledge of state statutes and insurance regulations. You bring 3+ years of first-party property claims adjusting experience directly with a carrier, with expertise handling files with exposure up to $100,000. You have hands-on experience managing attorney- and public adjuster-represented claims, demonstrating strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You're skilled in Xactimate/Xactanalysis, Excel, Snapsheet, Slack, and CRM systems. You can draft complex reservation of rights letters, coverage denial letters, and release letters. You conduct thorough recorded statements, recognize fraud indicators, and identify subrogation opportunities. Beyond technical expertise, you have exceptional interpersonal skills and a track record of guiding policyholders through challenging situations with empathy and professionalism. You serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced claims team members, supporting their professional development and ensuring consistency in claims handling practices. Familiarity with litigation processes, including depositions, is valued. Kin is a disciplined, profitable, remote-first employer founded in 2016, serving customers in 14 states. The company has been recognized as one of Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers, and Forbes' Fintech 50.
