Zoox is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to lead policy, safety, and reputation communications initiatives. In this role, you will partner cross-functionally with policy, safety, legal, product, and other teams to build communication campaigns that elevate Zoox's safety, policy, and reputation positioning. Key responsibilities include: - Owning and supporting a broad range of external communications programs and events aligned with policy and communication objectives - Tracking the autonomous vehicle regulatory landscape in partnership with policy teams and translating developments into forward-looking communications strategies - Developing relationships with media and managing inbound and reactive requests across safety and reputation-related topics - Proactively communicating Zoox's safety story and framework to key external stakeholders - Anticipating communications risks and establishing risk-mitigation strategies - Serving as a trusted communications partner to safety, product, legal, and policy teams on sensitive, fast-moving matters - Building communications programs in partnership with the Public Affairs team to support key community and policy in-market initiatives - Supporting reactive communications efforts with speed, accuracy, and judgment - Providing communications counsel and support to team members across the organization - Working cross-functionally within existing working groups on safety and trust to represent communications perspective This is an ideal role for someone with deep expertise in handling safety, regulatory, and reputation-sensitive communications in heavily regulated industries. You will be at the intersection of technical product development, regulatory strategy, and public narrative—a critical function for an autonomous vehicle company navigating complex federal and state regulatory environments. REQUIREMENTS: - 8+ years in communications or policy communications, with deep experience handling safety, regulatory, or reputation-sensitive issues - Proven track record managing high-stakes, technical communications, ideally in a heavily regulated industry (autonomous vehicles, aviation, automotive, energy, healthcare) - Experience running proactive policy communications campaigns that successfully shaped narratives or regulatory outcomes - Experience in issues management and developing reactive communications under pressure and tight timelines - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to distill complex technical topics accurately for broad audiences - Strong executive management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively cross-functionally - High attention to detail and program organization skills - Sharp instincts for what builds and what breaks public trust BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in autonomous vehicles, mobility, or emerging technology - Familiarity with federal and state autonomous vehicle regulatory environment
