1Password is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to strengthen its position as a trusted authority in identity, credentials, and access management. The company has surpassed $400M in ARR, earned a spot on the Forbes Cloud 100 for four consecutive years, and partners with iconic brands like Oracle Red Bull Racing.
In this role, you will shape clear, credible narratives about identity and access management, unified access, and AI's role in the future of security. You'll work across media relations, contributed content, events, speaking engagements, and rapid-response communications to build trust with developer, business, and security audiences. This position reports to the Director of Communications and sits within the Marketing team, which is actively growing AI capabilities and redesigning workflows through agents focused on competitive intelligence, content creation, and campaign planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing media strategies, maintaining relationships with security and technology journalists, and supporting executive and technical spokespeople
- Leading content creation including press releases, contributed articles, blog posts, executive communications, and media materials that translate complex identity and access topics into clear, relevant narratives
- Developing media and speaking strategies for major industry events (RSA Conference, Black Hat, Infosecurity Europe), coordinating briefings and interviews, and providing on-site support
- Monitoring cybersecurity, identity, and AI developments to identify rapid-response opportunities and help 1Password contribute credible perspectives to industry conversations
- Setting goals for communications programs, tracking coverage and message adoption, and using insights to refine strategy and prioritize future work
- Collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, product, engineering, security, legal, sales, and executive teams
1Password is a remote-first company founded in 2005, though travel for in-person engagement (annual offsites, team meetings, industry events) is expected as part of most roles. The company prioritizes collaboration, transparency, and a human-centric approach to security. The culture is demanding and fast-paced, with a focus on excellence and impact.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of experience in communications, PR, or marketing in B2B tech; cybersecurity, AI, or developer-focused experience strongly preferred
- Enterprise security expertise: deep understanding of cybersecurity, identity and access management, credential security, AI agents, and developer workflows; ability to explain how authentication, authorization, and accountability must evolve with new technologies
- Media and thought leadership experience: established relationships with security, technology, business, and developer media; ability to partner with executives and technical spokespeople to develop distinctive points of view and turn them into compelling stories, bylines, briefings, and speaking opportunities
- Strategic storytelling and writing skills: ability to develop communications strategies tied to business priorities and translate complex topics into clear, credible content for technical and business audiences
- Cross-functional collaboration skills and proven ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external partners
- Ownership, adaptability, and prioritization: drives work forward without perfect clarity, brings structure to ambiguity, balances planned work with rapid-response needs, makes sound decisions, and follows through
- AI-forward judgment: uses AI to work faster without outsourcing strategic thinking or editorial judgment; knows what to delegate, what to own, and when AI-generated work needs refinement
