Platform9 is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Network Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain high-performance Software-Defined Network (SDN) architectures for private cloud infrastructure. You will bridge deep data center networking expertise with modern cloud-native technologies, working across OpenStack, Kubernetes, and advanced networking protocols.
Key responsibilities include architecting and optimizing Open Virtual Switch (OVS) and Open Virtual Network (OVN) dataplanes, managing OpenFlow pipelines and SDN controllers for automated flow control. You'll deploy and operationalize OpenStack networking services (Neutron, Metadata Service) using OpenStack Ansible, and contribute to cloud-native networking products and microservices for the Kubernetes ecosystem.
You will design and optimize overlay tunnels (VxLAN, GENEVE) and virtual networks (VLAN 802.1Q) running over high-throughput physical fabrics using L3 CLOS, LACP, and MCT/vLAG architectures. Implement and manage dynamic routing protocols (BGP, EVPN, OSPF) for WAN/DC interconnects, ECMP load balancing, and VRRP gateway redundancy. Secure network traffic using IPsec VPNs, stateful firewalls, connection tracking, and NAT rules via IPTables/Netfilter and NFTables.
You'll build and validate network topologies using Vagrant and hypervisors (KVM/QEMU), develop resources for platform upgrades, and architect real-time streaming telemetry systems using gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and Kafka. Strong proficiency required in Golang, Python, or C; Linux networking concepts; packet path traversal; and kernel-level networking subsystems. Experience with production OpenStack deployments using OVN/OVS is essential. The ideal candidate has 8–15 years in cloud engineering, telecommunications, or large-scale data center environments with a proven track record of ownership and problem-solving in dynamic, data-driven organizations.
