Eight Sleep is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their Milan office and help expand product features while scaling their distributed backend systems. The role involves maintaining and improving data processing pipelines handling 5TB per day, developing tools to ensure availability across ~30 microservices, and contributing to backend services and product features that power their sleep fitness platform.
You'll work with distributed systems responsible for critical business logic and bridging communications between embedded systems, machine learning, mobile, and business intelligence platforms. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years specifically in backend engineering or SRE roles. You should be a language polyglot with advanced experience in at least two of: Java/Scala/Kotlin, C#/F#/.NET Core, Python, or NodeJS/TypeScript. Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud services is essential.
