This Senior Associate role is critical to Flexport's mission of making global trade easy and accessible. You will work across internal and external stakeholders—including ocean gateway operations teams, account management, customs teams, and technology partners—to identify improvement opportunities, drive alignment, and lead implementations. You will play a pivotal role in building Flexport's next operational model and developing your own leadership capabilities in communication and project management within a global operations environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, coach, and monitor the performance of associates and specialists on your team
- Use metrics to guide your team toward improved performance and skill development (both hard and soft skills)
- Represent Flexport's value proposition by leading and driving progress on tasks and projects within your scope
Product Improvement:
- Work closely with APAC Ocean Gateway Operations to establish effective collaboration processes with the Tech team
- Understand how current processes and products interact and communicate operational needs to the Tech team
- Create Business Request Documents (BRDs) and tickets to help the Tech team understand operations requirements and impact
- Maintain alignment with team and company goals while helping prioritize product requests amid resource constraints
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant Tech teams; escalate appropriately when needed
- Identify opportunities to productize operations processes and initiate product improvement projects
- Work across different levels and teams to pull people toward common goals
- Provide effective stakeholder updates on issues that may impact project completion, budget, or results
Process Optimization:
- Work with APAC Ocean teams to cultivate a continuous improvement mindset and identify data-driven improvement opportunities
- Understand existing processes and support the operations team in finding solutions to optimize processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency
- Initiate process improvement projects and drive them to successful implementation
- Represent or facilitate the APAC Ocean Gateway Operations team in process design discussions, negotiations, and alignment
- Balance different stakeholders' input with execution perspective and company-wide benefits
- Develop metrics to measure process change success and establish monitoring mechanisms post-launch
- Work across different levels and teams to coordinate cross-functional efforts
- Provide effective stakeholder updates on issues that may impact project completion, budget, or results

Requirements:
- BA/BS degree
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, ocean carrier operations, or consulting
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese/Mandarin
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with business, operations, technology, and other key stakeholders
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and logical thinking
- Strong attention to detail and proficient problem-solving skills
- Strong prioritization and execution ability
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams in day-to-day execution
- Hands-on, process-oriented, structured thinking with strong problem-solving capabilities
- Strategic vision combined with ground-floor execution ability
- Willingness to work outside office hours and occasional weekend or night shifts when needed
- Proficiency in process optimization, building feedback loops, problem-solving and consensus-building, time management, data-driven idea generation, hypothesis formation and experimentation, problem framing, and root cause analysis
